Helical Piles: Easily Installed in the Rain

Discover how Postech Screw Piles ensure seamless installation in rainy weather, eliminating delays and maintaining efficiency.

2 min read

Postech Screw Piles are an exception to the rule that construction activities must halt in rainy conditions. They can be installed just as effectively in the rain as on a clear day. The unique installation procedure used by Postech generally doesn’t require any excavation, unlike other foundation and anchor methods. Therefore, there are no holes in the ground to fill with water and no risk of excavation sides collapsing when wet.

Installation Process

If anything, the rain makes starting the Postech Screw Pile into the ground easier. Once the helical pile is a couple of inches into the ground, this advantage diminishes. The Postech Screw Pile is literally screwed into the ground, similar to how a screw is driven into a piece of wood. Inclement weather, unless severe enough to affect visibility, isn't even a factor.

Rain Resistance

RAIN DOESN’T AFFECT THE POSTECH HELICAL PILE EITHER. THEY ARE MADE OF HEAVILY GALVANIZED STEEL, WHICH IS UNAFFECTED BY THE RAIN. THERE IS NO RISK OF CORROSION DUE TO WATER.

Other types of inclement weather don’t affect Postech's installation process either. High winds, cold, heat, and even snow are immaterial due to the design of the helical pile and the installation method. The equipment used for installation is also unaffected by weather conditions. The only one getting wet is the Postech expert running the equipment and installing the helical pile!

Building in Rainy Conditions

With Canada’s condensed building season, there’s little time for delays. Every day of delay brings a project closer to winter. No construction project can afford such delays, so anything that allows work to continue in the rain is invaluable.

So, with Postech Screw Piles, delays caused by rain are a thing of the past. While they can’t help carpenters start framing in the rain, they ensure that when the sun comes out, the foundation is ready for the carpenters to get to work.
